GOAL 7

In this goal/objective I have listed objectives that help provide value to my learning and show me how much progress I am making by being able to self-evaluation my experiences as I develop professionally in the life-long learning development.

Calculus map competency

Reflection: This competency showed me how much development I have obtained in detecting calculus with accuracy. It is very important to be able to accurately identify accumulation of calculus so that removal takes place and the patients oral cavity can heal to a healthy state.

Periodontal assessment competency 

Reflection: This was an eye opening experience for me to take place in this evaluation of my skills. This was the first time that I had provided treatment to a patient that had such severe periodontal disease. I was able to complete this assessment successfully which was a satisfying experience having succeeded and seeing that my skills improved so quickly with having learned so much from the first assessment. 

Inferior Alveolar (IA) nerve block competency evaluation form

Reflection: Administering injections was always intimidating to me. I did not have any previous experience with providing injections. I had received anesthetic for procedures though and know that a persons demeanor and energy can really change how a patient reacts to the injection. While you are administering anesthetic to your patients it is so important to stay calm and relaxed so that your patient feels the same way. This evaluation shows me that I am able adjust, stay calm, and provide an accurate injection. while providing injections.
